A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Katelyn King is a percussionist without boundaries, finding non-traditional and unexplored ways to connect with audiences. Primarily based in Bern (CH), Katelyn is an artistic nomad interested in all projects that create a more-than-just-music experience. Katelyn has several on-going projects all over the world: Ensemble Aabat (CH), Dressage Percussion (HK), speak/strike (USA), Ensemble Estékökü (CH). Katelyn’s past and present collaborations include work with the HKB Théâtre Musical Alumni, Lucerne Festival Academy and Alumni, presentations at PASIC and Transplanted Roots Percussion Symposium, performances with the Stadttheater Bern, and commissions with composers and artists such as Katharina Rosenberger, Carolyn Chen, Justin Rabideau, Christopher Adler, and Andrea Mazzariello. Katelyn has a Master in Composition and Theory in Théâtre Musical from the Hochschule der Künste Bern (CH, 2017), a Master in Music Performance from McGill University (CA, 2015), and a Bachelor in Music Performance from Kennesaw State University (USA, 2013). Her most recent awards include the Rita Zimmermann Musik-Stiftung, Lyra Stiftung, Swiss Excellence/Fulbright, and a McGill Recording Competition Prize.
